About

We Are Part of the Solution

For over 20 years we have provided trusted engineering and metal fabrication solutions for industries that demand service, accuracy and quality.

Our Story

EDS  don’t just make ‘stuff’. We use our engineering and product development  experience to design and develop innovative, practical and cost effective solutions. We work closely with our customers and are an integral part of the solutions we deliver.

EDS is owner-managed and supported by a skilled and motivated team, including an additional mechanical engineer, serving customers all across Australia, including recent projects throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, ACT and Western Australia.

EDS Company Ethos

Our Story

EDS was founded with a clear purpose: to bring genuine engineering thinking to metal fabrication. Owner-managed by two mechanical engineers, our business has always been led by people who understand not just how to make things, but why they need to work.

From our workshop in Brendale, Queensland, we serve customers in every mainland state. Our team includes a third mechanical engineer alongside skilled fabricators, welders, and finishing specialists who share our commitment to precision and reliability.

We don’t believe in the distinction between “the people who design it” and “the people who make it.” At EDS, those are the same people. That’s how we solve problems quickly, adapt to changing requirements without losing quality, and deliver components that work the first time they’re installed. It’s also why many of our clients have worked with us for years — they know that when they call EDS, they’re talking to someone who understands both the engineering and the practical realities of manufacturing.

Over more than two decades, we’ve built deep expertise in three core sectors: electrical distribution products, lift engineering components, and general metal fabrication for industrial and infrastructure applications. This specialisation means we understand the standards, tolerances, and working conditions specific to each industry — knowledge that makes the quoting process faster, reduces the risk of manufacturing errors, and ensures that our products perform as expected in the field.

Our Facility

Our Brendale workshop handles the full range of metal fabrication: laser cutting, guillotining, press brake folding, tube bending, MIG and TIG welding, and surface finishing coordination. Where CNC machining is required, we manage this through established local partners who work to our specifications. Having these capabilities coordinated through a single point of contact means we control the full production process from raw material to finished component.

This matters because quality, lead time, and cost are all easier to manage when the entire job is coordinated through one team. A bracket that needs laser cutting, two bends, four drilled holes, and a weld is managed as a single workflow rather than the client juggling multiple suppliers. The result is faster turnaround, lower handling costs, and better dimensional consistency.

Our in-house equipment includes fibre laser cutters for precision flat profiling, CNC press brakes with programmable back gauges for repeatable forming, and dedicated welding bays for both production and heavy fabrication work. For projects requiring precision hole patterns and mating surfaces, we coordinate CNC machining through our partner network with full quality oversight. We invest in equipment and relationships that deliver accuracy and repeatability, because our clients — particularly in the electrical and lift sectors — need every unit to be identical to the last.

Our Newest Capabilities

In 2026, EDS expanded into Printing Services: 3D printing for rapid prototyping and product development, and UV printing directly onto metal surfaces for permanent graphics, signage, and identification. These services are operated by our engineering team and complement our core fabrication capabilities.

3D printing allows us to produce prototypes, jigs, fixtures, and low-volume functional parts quickly and affordably. For clients developing new products or working through design iterations, this means faster development cycles without the cost of traditional tooling. UV printing on metal produces durable, weather-resistant graphics bonded directly to steel and aluminium surfaces — ideal for equipment labels, safety signage, and branded panels that need to last in industrial and outdoor environments.

Adding these capabilities reflects our approach to manufacturing: if our clients need it and we can do it well, we’ll invest in the equipment and expertise to offer it in-house. It’s the same thinking that led us to bring laser cutting, press brakes, and tube bending capabilities under our own roof over the years.
