Guillotining
Guillotining
Our guillotine shears handle sheet and plate cutting across the range of materials and thicknesses used in general fabrication. Guillotining is often the first operation in a fabrication sequence — cutting sheet stock to size before it moves on to forming, drilling, or welding — so accuracy at this stage sets the standard for everything that follows.
We cut mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium across a range of thicknesses. For straight cuts on flat sheet, guillotining is typically faster and more cost-effective than laser cutting, making it the practical choice for blanking operations, trim cuts, and jobs where the cut edge will be hidden or welded. Where a cleaner edge finish or more complex profile is needed, our laser cutter handles those requirements.
Back gauge settings on our guillotine are adjustable to fine tolerances, which matters when cutting multiples of the same blank size. Consistent blank dimensions mean consistent finished parts after forming — important for production runs where parts need to be interchangeable. For large-volume blanking operations, we set up the guillotine for efficient throughput while maintaining the dimensional control needed for downstream operations.
Guillotining is available as a standalone cutting service or as part of a complete fabrication job. If you need blanks cut from your own material, we can process supplied sheet stock. More commonly, we source the material, cut it to size, and continue through to the finished component — managing the full fabrication process from our Brendale workshop.
