Structural Components for the Heart of the Installation

Lift Shaft & Pit Hardware

The shaft and pit are where the engineering matters most. EDS fabricates structural brackets, supports, guides, anchorage points, and pit hardware for lift installations across commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. Every component is manufactured to the dimensional tolerances specified by lift system manufacturers and installation engineers, because in a shaft environment, there’s very little room for adjustment once components are fixed in place.

Shaft hardware includes guide rail brackets, counterweight supports, buffer mounts, rope anchor points, and the various cleats, angles, and plates that secure lift equipment to the building structure. We work from installation drawings provided by lift companies, manufacturing each bracket to suit the specific shaft dimensions and structural fixing arrangements of the project. This is bespoke manufacturing — no two shafts are quite the same, and our engineering team is experienced at interpreting lift installation drawings and translating them into production-ready fabrication specifications.

Pit hardware requires particular attention to material specification and finish, given the potential for water ingress in pit environments. We typically fabricate pit components in galvanised steel or stainless steel depending on the building environment and consultant specification. For seismic zones, we can manufacture to enhanced fixing and load requirements.

Our workshop capacity allows us to manage the volume demands of large lift installation companies running multiple concurrent projects. We maintain direct communication with site installation teams so that if a shaft dimension varies from the original drawings — which happens more often than anyone would like — we can adjust production quickly and avoid installation delays.
